The Horse & Rider Retreat | Kyogle NSW

What to Expect

Join us for a unique Horsemanship and Riding Retreat focused on deepening your connection with horses and developing a greater understanding of their language, behaviour, and needs.

This immersive weekend is designed to help you build a stronger partnership with your horse through practical horsemanship, riding, and observation. You'll learn how to better interpret equine communication, understand why horses respond the way they do, and develop the skills to work with them in a way that fosters trust, confidence, and mutual respect.

Through a combination of hands-on sessions, demonstrations, and discussions, you'll gain practical tools to improve your relationship with horses both on the ground and in the saddle. Whether you're bringing your own horse or working with one of ours, the focus is on creating meaningful connections and becoming a more thoughtful, knowledgeable horse person.

Alongside the learning, you'll enjoy a relaxed and inclusive weekend surrounded by like-minded people who share a passion for horses and personal growth. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions, share experiences, and enjoy the company of both horses and fellow participants.

Accommodation and all meals are provided, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the experience. Horses can also be provided for an additional cost if required.

Leave with a deeper appreciation of the horse's perspective, greater confidence in your horsemanship and riding, and a stronger foundation for building lasting partnerships with the horses in your life.

❋ personalised education

Every horse and rider partnership is unique, which is why our teaching is tailored to suit your individual goals, experience level, and the needs of your horse. Whether you're just beginning your horsemanship journey or have years of experience, you'll receive guidance that is relevant, practical, and appropriate for where you and your horse are right now.

With experience working across a wide range of breeds, disciplines, and personalities, we adapt our approach to help each horse and rider thrive. You'll be supported to learn at your own pace in a relaxed, encouraging environment where questions are welcomed and progress is measured by understanding, not comparison.

Day One

Arrive & Meet

As everyone arrives, we take time to settle in, get comfortable, and begin connecting with those around us, including the horses.

Over our Sunset Session we will discover each persons goals for the Retreat and start to incorporate those into the plan for your stay.

Day Two

Gaining Connection & Confidence

Day Two is where the learning really begins. The morning is dedicated to personalised one-on-one sessions, giving you the opportunity to work directly with your horse and focus on the areas most important to your partnership. Whether you're looking to improve communication, build confidence, refine your riding, or better understand your horse's behaviour, you'll receive guidance tailored to your individual goals.

As each horse and rider combination takes their turn, attendees are encouraged to fence sit, observe, and learn from one another. Watching different horses, personalities, and approaches often provides valuable insights and sparks meaningful discussion throughout the day.

After a relaxed BBQ lunch, we'll come together for a fun and educational group session. While riding opportunities will be available, there is absolutely no expectation that participants ride at any point during the retreat. Groundwork, liberty work, observation, and learning from the sidelines are equally valuable, and you're encouraged to participate in a way that feels comfortable for both you and your horse.

The afternoon is about learning, laughter, and shared experiences, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions, connect with fellow horse lovers, and enjoy your horse outside of a formal lesson setting. Whether you're in the saddle, working from the ground, or simply observing, you'll leave with new insights and a deeper understanding of the horse-human partnership.

Day Three

Taking the Knowledge Home

Our final morning is guided by the group, allowing time for extra horsemanship, questions, another group session or revisiting techniques you’d like more support with.

If you’d prefer a slower morning, you’re also welcome to simply spend time with your horse — grooming, connecting, or enjoying a quiet moment together before the retreat concludes. We’ll finish by reflecting on what you’ve learned so you head home feeling confident.
